Stuntfest – World Tour mixes ragdoll physics with racing

Drive, fly and jump, all in the same game in a massive elimination-based festival. It’s Stuntfest – World Tour, and it’s coming to PC later in 2022.

Coming out of left field, Stuntfest World Tour is an all-new franchise from THQ Nordic and Pow Wow Entertainment that mixes driving with racing, flying and ragdoll physics.

The relatively new development studio based in Austria has already created the lovely MisBits sandbox. With Stuntfest he now seems to have created something that merges elements from before wreck party, All-Star Destruction and Pain Games.

Studio CEO and co-founder Milo Gutmann previously worked on popular game series SOCOM, while CCO and co-founder Jérôme Amouyal previously worked on combat arena driving game Crasher.

Here you are driving vehicles, but you can quickly get out of the car and then bounce your character around the level in order to try and find a shortcut. This is billed as a “targeted ejection mechanism”, which strongly reminds us of FlatOut 2.

At times, a jet glider will also be involved, with you in control flying above platformer-like tracks – reminiscent of aspects of Trials or Trackmania series. After your maneuver in the air, you must aim for the next available vehicle and take control of it.

There also appears to be a demolition derby arena, analogous to Wreckfest – also by the same publisher, but a separate development studio.

The end goal is to win an elimination-style festival, consisting of several different game modes and up to 18 players online.

The festival area also sounds like it can be used to meet other players or explore new areas, while the backstage element is used to customize your character and vehicles.

Stuntfest Release Date

There’s no clear launch date for Stuntfest yet, but it will launch later in 2022 and will initially be PC-only via Steam.

Its key to success will be being able to balance the driving and jumping/flying aspects, while making the gameplay unique as opposed to a melting pot of existing ideas. We hope to share more with you about Stuntfest as we get closer to launch.
